Community Scientists Engage in UFHCC Showcase 2025

The UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) Showcase 2025, held on February 12th at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom, highlighted the groundbreaking multidisciplinary cancer research happening across the University of Florida. Among the participants were members of the UF Community Scientist Program, who contributed their unique perspectives to the event.

Five members of the Community Scientist Program, Ty Davis, Kristie Hill, Angela Howard, Carlos Maeztu, and Stanley Richardson, served as judges for the poster presentations. Their unique perspectives and insights, drawn from their lived experiences, were invaluable in evaluating the research and its potential impact on the community. Their participation ensures a diversity of viewpoints in the evaluation process.

In addition to serving as judges, Community Scientists Kristie and Ty Davis presented a poster highlighting the Community Scientist Program. The poster illustrated the program’s mission to improve health outcomes relevant to patients and their families, the diverse engagement of community scientists, and the program’s various activities.

The UFHCC Showcase 2025 provided a valuable platform to showcase the contributions of the Community Scientists and to further integrate community perspectives into the cancer research landscape at UF. The program’s involvement underscores the University’s commitment to patient-centered research and its dedication to translating scientific discoveries into meaningful improvements in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship for all.
