Community Scientists from our program attended the 2nd Annual Learning Health System and AI Workshop, held from September 4 to 6, 2024, and hosted by the OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Network and the University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Nadine, Carlos, Kristie, and Stanley represented the Community Scientist Program, gaining insights into how Artificial Intelligence, or AI, can transform health systems, improve patient outcomes, and enhance health care quality. The event featured discussions on AI’s applications in learning health systems, patient safety initiatives, and public health partnerships.
Kristie also took on a prominent role as a panelist in the session titled Social Determinants of Health and Public Health Partnerships. She shared her personal journey navigating years of misdiagnoses and the challenges she faced in receiving proper care, providing a powerful perspective on how public health partnerships can improve patient outcomes. Her contribution underscored the importance of patient voices in shaping AI-driven innovations in healthcare.
